are you out there?

I've been reading "The Shack" lately and though I'm not impressed with the writing style, I am intrigued by the topics brought up in the book.

If anyone reads this blog---I have a serious question for you...

How is it you know that you are encountering God in your life?

That used to be something I was very clear on in my life----but it has gotten a little fuzzier of late.

I think, on the whole, I'm an okay human being----but I'm hardly a person living in a real relationship with God anymore---and I miss it.

Any insights/advice out there from those of you who have felt like you were going through a spiritual dry spell>

Hi! I found you throgh Happy Foody and really connected with your post - I am right where you are! I really was impressed with the relationship God had with humans, as it was presented in the shack. It was really beautiful. But I'm not sure how to get there, all the usual things I've been taught to do - morning devotions, church, bible reading - just don't seem to fit the bill. Personally, I'm trying new things, like listening to a song that I connect with be part of my "God time" or serving others and realizing that I won't always "feel" God. I'd also love some more ideas and advice.

I like the idea of trying new things to connect, and find your "God time".

Honestly, for me its been trying to cultivate a sense of gratefulness for where I am.

I've been doing that a lot with food lately---trying to be mindful of what I eat and aware that God has given that to me so I can be well.

It's a start.
I'm looking for a spiritual home---a place to worship that feels real.

I'm trying to be well, and that helps too.

Thanks for writing Kari!

Glad to see you're still around!

I like what you said about being grateful. I think whether there is a god or not or whether you believe in a god, I think being grateful at least centers you and helps put things in perspective.

Hi Johnny C!

Nice to hear from you, too.

I've been checkin in on your webpage and its been fun.
Sorry I don't comment more.
I guess I feel I don't have a lot to add to the conversation.
But I enjoy visiting!

Hi, I thought your blog was a bit more appropriate to follow up with your chickweed comment on Crunchy Chicken's blog... :-) I was just joking with my MIL yesterday about planting chickweed - it's taking over our garden - we missed weeding paths after one afternoon shower and then you couldn't FIND the squash among the chickweeds! If I can figure out how they seed/how to propagate them by mail, I'd be more than happy to send some for you, if you can't find any.
I actually just finished my first batch of chickweed salve for my tired, water-abused hands too...

Hi Erika! Thanks for wandering over here..

Yes, I would love a bit of chickweed!

If you find you have a surplus of seeds, I'd be more than happy to take them off of your hands.

Thanks for the offer!
